I LOVE getting your comments and hearing from fellow bakers and cake artists. I'm not ignoring you by the way;my website is created with Weebly and the platform is undergoing some big changes right now which, I suspect, is the reason I'm not able to reply to your comments. This is a SUPER busy week for me as I'm working on two large cakes for a wedding this weekend. The wedding cake is a 6 tiered beauty featuring lots of greenery with white and blush toned flowers. I'm very anxious to get to the stage of putting all of the pieces together on this one. There is also a large groom's cake that focuses on sports with sculpted footballs, basketballs and even a hand with a pointed finger that is red. It looks like one of those foam hands that fans wave during games. These pieces are all in the drying stage now.
I'm using numerous mediums on both of these cakes including: Mexican paste, fondant, white chocolate, royal icing, Swiss Meringue Buttercream and of course cake.
This morning I need to complete the details on the sculpted pieces and then move on to making wired leaves and fillings. There are four cake flavors involved: Heavenly Chocolate with Swiss Meringue Chocolate Buttercream, Red Velvet with Cream Cheese filling, Southern Praline cake and Vanilla Velvet with Italian Creme. Every one of these combinations is decadent and sure to please.
